Story Behind the Art

In "Come Home," I wanted to show the joy of the moment when the lost lamb is no longer lost. Inspired by the Savior’s words in Luke 15, this piece depicts Jesus reaching out with open arms, eyes full of warmth and welcome, while the lamb steps toward Him on a sunlit hill. This is the God who runs to meet us. This is the Shepherd who rejoices when even one comes home.

One of my favorite things about "Come Home" is the way Jesus smiles. He smiles genuinely, joyfully, like nothing in the world matters more to Him than this single returning lamb. I spent a lot of time working on that expression because I wanted it to represent what I believe with my whole heart: that the Savior is delighted when we come back. The gospel is a story of the Atonement, but it is also a story of coming home to love.

We’ve all wandered at times. Maybe we’ve drifted slowly, maybe we’ve run. But no matter how far we go, there’s always a way back. And the Lord doesn’t just wait at the finish line. He meets us on the path. He lifts us. He leads us. He celebrates us. That’s the Savior I’ve come to know in my life, and that’s the message I hope "Come Home" brings into the homes of others.
