He Will Hold Me Fast | Canvas Artwork

Jesus stands across rushing water with His hand open to a woman taking the next step. Inspired by Psalm 37:23–24, He Will Hold Me Fast speaks of the Lord's care when our footing feels unsure. This vertical canvas print is stretched over 1.5-inch bars.

Story Behind the Art

Across a rushing stream, a woman stands on a stone and reaches toward Jesus. He faces her from the next stone, His hand open. He Will Hold Me Fast draws on Psalm 37:23–24. The psalm speaks of the Lord guiding those who follow Him and upholding them when they stumble. This crossing gives those words a scene we can see.

There is a small space between their hands. She has not touched Him yet. Water rushes beneath the stones, and the path behind her winds through green hills. Jesus looks toward her. His open palm is near enough to see clearly, while the next step is still hers to take. That pause gives the work its honesty and hope.

Some days we know where we need to go, but the way there feels hard. We may trust God and still ask for help with the next step. Psalm 37 leaves room for that human weakness. It speaks of someone who may fall, yet is upheld by the Lord. The water still moves in this painting, but Jesus is close and reaching out.

This work suits a place where you begin the day in prayer. Its winding path and rushing water speak to a hard step, while Christ's open hand points to the help Scripture speaks of. It also suits a gift for a friend facing a difficult change.

I hope this painting brings your eyes back to His open hand when you need a moment to pause. Choose a size for your home or for someone you love, and bring He Will Hold Me Fast into the place where you turn to Christ.
