Mary and Joseph share a close moment beside the sleeping Savior in Holy Family. Inspired by Luke 2:16, this Nativity scene suits a home centered on Christ at Christmas. The vertical canvas print is stretched over 1.5-inch bars.
“Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.” — Luke 2:16 (KJV, excerpt)
Story Behind the Art
Mary and Joseph lean toward the baby Jesus, their faces close above His resting place. In Luke 2:16, the shepherds find the family with the child lying in a manger. Holy Family brings our attention to that small circle of care, where the wonder of Christmas takes the form of a newborn.
The rough wooden manger sits near the front of the painting. Soft cloth surrounds the child, and a small lamp burns behind His parents. The dark room draws our eyes toward their faces. Mary and Joseph both look down with love, sharing their attention with the little One entrusted to them.
That simple act of looking toward Jesus gives the scene its place in a Christian home. During a season full of plans and visits, there is something good about pausing here. The Savior came into the world as a child who could be held, clothed, and loved. Christmas begins with His birth.
For a family, this work can give a familiar Bible story a place in daily life. Children can recognize Mary, Joseph, and Jesus before they know every word of the account. Adults can return to the same scene with gratitude. I hope it helps make room for a few unhurried moments together.
The warm browns, soft blue, and cream cloth suit a living room or family prayer space. Holy Family also makes a thoughtful Christmas gift for parents who love the Nativity. Choose the print size that suits your home, and give this close view of the manger a place in your Christmas season.
