A Promise Near at Hand | Canvas Artwork

A Promise Near at Hand offers a peaceful pause before the Savior's birth. Mary rests beneath an olive tree, Joseph watches the town, and their donkey lies nearby. This horizontal canvas artwork draws its scriptural connection from the blessing spoken over Mary's faith in Luke 1:45.

“And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord.” — Luke 1:45 (KJV)

Story Behind the Art

Elizabeth blessed Mary for believing what the Lord had told her. Luke 1:45 speaks of a promise that God would fulfill. A Promise Near at Hand places that faith within an imagined pause near Bethlehem. Mary rests beneath an olive tree, with Joseph standing beside her and the town visible across the hills.

Mary's hands rest near the child she carries. The donkey has settled on the ground, and the tree spreads its branches over the little group. Joseph looks ahead toward the warm windows in the distance. A small star shines above the town. These still details give the waiting a human scale and a place of rest.

The weeks before Christmas often fill quickly. This scene makes room for a slower thought: God's promise was drawing near before the world could see it. Mary's faith did not depend on knowing every detail ahead. Her story can speak to those learning to wait with trust while tending the people and duties already close to them.

The soft blue, cream, and olive tones suit a reading corner or a room where your family gathers at the end of the day. It would also make a thoughtful gift for someone who loves Mary's part in the Christmas story. Select the size that fits your space, and bring this peaceful view of faith and expectation into your home.
