Inspired by Matthew 18:12-14, "He Leaves the 99" shows Jesus walking towards a lone sheep while the others are safely gathered. It’s my attempt to represent how He seeks out and saves each of us, especially when we feel lost. As the scripture says, “If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off?”

In creating this piece, I was touched by the idea that each of us is important to the Lord. This painting also brings back memories of times I felt lost but found comfort in the knowledge that Jesus was always searching for me, ready to bring me back into His arms.
