Story Behind the Art
She leans into the Savior, her hands drawn close to her heart. His arms surround her beneath a tree filled with autumn color. “Peace in Christ #3” is inspired by Philippians 4:7, where Paul writes of “the peace of God, which passeth all understanding” (KJV). It is a peace rooted in Christ’s care.
My wife lives with PTSD following the death of a loved one. This verse is especially comforting to her. When loss is hard to put into words, Scripture gives us words to hold close. In Philippians, Paul points us toward God in prayer and speaks of His peace keeping our hearts and minds through Christ.
Jesus bows His head toward the woman as she rests against Him. His hand rests on her shoulder. Golden leaves frame them, while soft light shows through the trees. Even with all that color around them, the center of the work is simple: she is held, and He is close.
