With this work, I've attempted to encapsulate a moment of pure, communal devotion— a candlelight Christmas Eve service where the congregation is so vast it overflows the confines of the church, extending into the surrounding grounds.

The inspiration for this painting springs from the words of Matthew 5:14-16: "You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."

Just as Jesus called us to be the 'light of the world,' "Shining Souls" portrays the church as a beacon of light that simply cannot be contained.
